Sandra Fish is a data journalist who has covered politics in Iowa, Florida, Colorado and New Mexico.
She was the founding journalism adviser to Colorado Confidential, now Colorado Independent, helping organize and operate the new political site in 2006 and 2007.
She’s worked as an editor and reporter at the Daily Camera, as a part-time copy editor at the Rocky Mountain News, and taught journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder for eight years.
Fishcovered Colorado politics, as well Sarah Palin’s endorsements and PAC spending for PoliticsDaily.com in 2010. She’s directed CU students covering TV ad spending and ballot initiatives in 2012 in conjunction with I-News Network.
And from 2014 until June 2017, Fish followed the money in New Mexico politics for New Mexico In Depth.
There, she created interactive web applications to better inform New Mexicans and wrote frequently about the state’s lack of disclosure in lobbying. Those stories led to improvements in some laws governing lobbyists and campaign finance reporting.
Fish lives in Denver.
